Linking Entourage with Yahoo

I linked Entourage on my iMac with Hotmail and have had no trouble at all. I
was on my wife's new Mac and decided to do her a "favor" and link Entourage
to her Yahoo mail. Huge mistake!! It emptied her Yahoo inbox (which I've
since corrected but can't get those original emails back on Yahoo). Biggest
problem is she can't send anything from Entourage. She had the same problem
when she tried to start a .mac email account. I suspect it's a Yahoo thing
but I'm not sure. Is there any way to fix this?? She's not very happy with
me right now.

I'm guessing you set up the Yahoo account as POP rather than IMAP. You will
have to forward all the mail you downloaded into Entourage to get it back on
Yahoo or create an IMAP account in Entourage for the Yahoo account and then
you can drag the messages to the IMAP folders.

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Thanks Diane. One other question - If I have a bad SMTP configuration then how
can I fix that? Is that by re-entering info as you mentioned or is there
something else I need to do? I don't want to delete the entourage account or
I'll lose all the messages that transferred from her yahoo inbox to the
Entourage inbox. And since I can't send out of Entourage I as yet, can't
forward all those messages back to yahoo. I need to fix this sending problem
the most.

Once POP messages are downloaded you cannot lose them by deleting the
account. IMAP are not lost. They are still on the server. Even if you want
to use POP, I would set up IMAP to transfer them back to the server.

You can edit the SMTP and it will not affect the account...just the sending
part.

You could make the account inactive, by not checking include in Send &
Receive schedule.

Now create a new Account and enter the correct info.
