linking error (external table not in expected format)

I just upgraded from Access 97 to Access 2003. None of
my link tables will work. Tables in .dbf, created by
dosfox but previously linked in Access 97 using dbase IV
format. Error message is "external table is not in the
expected format". Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,
