Linking Excel Charts to a report

I have a procedure that creates and excel chart. I"ve cut and pasted the
chart into my report as a link so that every time the chart is updated the
report is updated.

From design mode I preview the report and I don't see the changes to the
chart. Yet, when I reenter design mode the changes magically appear..

shouldn't this link be updated on preview? When I create the chart I
overwrite the previous Excel file. Is this affecting the update?

Anyone have an idea?
