Linking Excel Database to Word Document

I wish to link an Excel spreadsheet to my Word document, and use the Word
document to update the spreadsheet. I want to use checkboxes in my Word
document. When clicked, I want the checkbox to update specific cells in my
Excel spreadsheet. Is this possible? If so, what approach could I take?
I'm assuming I will need to write some VBA code to do it. Thank you.

Did you get any answers to your post that would be helpful?
I'm afraid I can't reciprocate as your qurstion is beyond my slkillset.
