Linking Gantt chart duration bars to Proj. fields

Hello:

I'm trying to customize gantt charts in Project web access
(I have project server 2003). I'm using the customize
gantt charts menu from the admin section

I'm customizing one of the free gantt charts available,
and I would love to know how to link one of the available
custom duration bars to start/finish custom fields from
project professional.

I mean, how can those custom duration bars be applied to
fields from Project Professional (how are both things
related?)

Is there anywhere a description about what does each of
the gantt chart bars represent? , I know some of them but
others I don't understand what they serve for.
