linking information from one document to another.

First off let me just say I am no Excel genius.. therefore this may
seem like a stupid and rudimentary question.. but I can't find the
answer to this question... or at least I haven't recognized the answer
when I may have seen it.
I have 2 different workbooks.. one is the source and the other the
destination.. in my source document I have literally copied a cell,
then pasted a link to that cell in the destination workbook. now I
need to be able to add rows and information to the source workbook
thus throwing my linked cell out of whack.. I need to dedicate the
information in the source cell to always show up in the destination
cell regardless of whether the source cell moves up or down in
rows..... in other words.. my source cell is D24... and I link it to
Destination workbook E32 Now I have to add rows to the source so the
information that was in D24.. is now in D28.. How do I automatically
carry that change over to the link to Destination E32?... Thanks for
any and all help you can offer. ... and for putting up with my
rudimentary Excel experience.

If you have "the destination" workbook open when you change something
in "the source", the link should be updated. If its not open, no
update.

A workaround is to assign Names to cells in "the source". Now, when
you establish the link, the Name becomes the reference. Adding or
deleting cells in "the source" will not change the Name, and the link
will be preserved whether or not "the destination" is open when you
make the change.
