Linking multiple projects results in funky WBS

I have a master project schedule with multiple sub-project schedules linked
in. I version the master scheule each week for distribution. Whenever I
change the name of the master schedule a new task is inserted into each of
the linked sub-projects. The result is that the WBS in the master schedule is
thrown off and the linked in tasks dissappear.

Has anyone else encountered this? Can you help me resolve the problem?
