linking of fields

I think that part of my problem is that I'm using the wrong words to ask for
help, but here is the situation. I was pretty proficient in Access 2000, but
Access 2007 has a few features that throw me. When I use the form design
wizard it puts my selected fields on the form with labels. In the past one
click would let me select that field and label and another would let me
select them separately. I do not seem to be able to unlink fields created in
the wizard so that I can move or remove the labels. Fields that I add on my
own do not have this problem. I've also had similar problems when I selected
a database and said make a form. That wizard creates a form that links all
of the filds so that they have the same length and move as a block when I
want individual control of my fields. I'm confident that there is some
property or setting that will give me back individual contraol. Can anyone
tell me where it is located? Thanks.

I can't be sure, but it sounds like the two controls are being treated as
"grouped". Can you click on one (to highlight both) and use "Ungroup" to
disconnect them?

yep - this feature threw me too.....in design view, when those controls are
highlighted...be in the 'Arrange' tab and then look for the 'Remove' icon to
decouple...

Jeff,
This sounds reasonable, but I never did see a group or ungroup command
anywhere. NTC's suggestion of using Remove apears to work. It also does
throw me for a loop as well because when I hit remove, the fields disappear,
but I have discovered that they are not really gone just shoved over to the
right of my screen. Thanks for both of your suggestions.
