linking outlook calendar to excel spread sheet

Is it possible for me to track the annual insurance renewal dates of my
vendors using an excel spread sheet and the calendar alerts of Outlook? I
would like to get notified of expiring insurance certificates so that I can
contact the vendor before they are no longer allowed into the facility.
