linking shapes to a Word document

How can I link a shape on a flowchart to a specific spot
in a Word document? I know how to link it to a Word
document but I would like it to go to a specific
spot/paragraph in that document. Can this be done?

Hi,

Visio only links to named locations in visio files
The only way out would be VBA in this case.
You can create 5 actions fields, say Top, Bottom, Left<
right and Middle, with Docmd(1312) you add that to the
rightclick menu upon clicking they go to the word file and
populate corresponding custom property cells in visio with
a value, than you write a macro in word that checks the
custom properties of the shapes for a value and based on
that chooses its location in the word document.
Longwinded?
yes,
good luck all the same

your explanation makes sense but it would be way too
difficult to get some of our writers to the point where
they could do that.... guess I'll just have to find some
other way/package of accomplishing this...

thanks very much for replying!

not sure what version you are using... There is supposed to be a feature
called smart tags (?) in the office 2003 version that you might want to
investigate.
