Linking shapes

I know that this should seem pretty pnvious or simple however I cannot seem
to find a way to click or double click on on shape on some page and have it
center on a corresponding link on another page. Perhaps like a bookmark or
link like you can do in Front Page. Is this even possible? The closest thing
I have found in shape behavior is to double click and goto another page. The
"custom" behavior is greyed out so I cannot select that to see what I can do
with it. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

One technique is to add hyperlink(s) to a shape. I believe the help dialogue
covers this, but, the basic technique would be: 1.) select your shape, 2.)
go to menu bar>Insert>Hyperlinks (cntl-K works too). If you are just
navigating between pages within the Visio document, then, you won't need to
fill in the address, just the sub-address. The scroll button will bring up a
list of pages available. That's it. If you right click the shape, the
pop-up menu will list the hyperlink destination for that shape. Perhaps not
as efficient as multiple clicks on a shape, but those actions usually have
other pre-defined behaviors. Of course, you'll want to add hyperlink to your
destination to return to where-ever you want.

Yes, to go between pages I understand. What I want to be able to do is click
on the shape and it jumps me to a specific shape either on its own page or
another page. I would think that I would have to bookmark or mark the
destination shape in some way and then do the HL thing at the originator.
Does this make sense?

Yes, that makes sense, but the hyperlinks do all of that. You enter the
destination in the HL setup menu; you don't have to do anything to the target
shape. So, how do you specify the target or destination shape? There are
two ways. First one, go to menu bar > View, and select Shape Data window.
Select your destination shape. The window title will give you the id of the
shape. This will be your entry in the HL sub-address menu for shape. The
2nd way, a little less direct, is to go to View and select Drawing Explorer.
In the new window, select Foreground Pages. Find the page of interest. It
will display all shapes on that page. You can find your shape by clicking on
each item listed and it will select the shape on the page. Either way,
you'll get your shape identity.
