Hey all
I have several Access databases within which I link to Excel spreadsheets. I've noticed that if someone else has the spreadsheets open, I can't run any queries that include the linked "table". It says "Cannot access file C:\etc.xls. The file may be open by another user" or something like that
I know that if I were in Excel itself and tried to open that sheet, I'd be presented with a similar message, but with the option to open it as read only. In 99% of the cases I use linked spreadsheets, I only want to passively read the data, so a read-ony mode would be fine. Is there any way I can emulate this in my link so I can be in the sheets while someone else has it open
Thx.
