linking tasks between project files - with change notificiation/ac

Hi,

Is it possible to have a task common to two project files (i.e. linked), and
if a task changes in one, there is some kind of notification before the
change is accepted?

For example, if we had a 'master' schedule containing major milestones, and
a number of 'sub' schedules that needed to contain the tasks relating to the
milestone (managed by individuals), can project notify the owner of the
master schedule when a dependent task changes (is 'requested' to change)? Not
just a automatic change as with normal cross project links.

Thanks.

In a sense, all such changes are requests in that anytime a PM opens a
project with external links that cause a schedule change, the application
notifies you and asks for your acceptance. There's no other workflow behind
it. Rejecting the change preserves the dates in the current plan, but
doesn't send a rejection back to the original plan. You need PMs working
together to control such events.
