I am having a bizarre problem - I'm seeing this in all of our plans so I
created a new plan to test this out. This is what is happening. I created
two tasks - Task 1 has a Start Date of 10/13, and the duration is 2 days.
Task 2 is linked to Task 1 and has a duration of 5 days. Even though they
are linked, Task 2 has a start date of 10/13 - it should have a start date of
10/15. I have no constraints, and the type of relationship is FS. I am so
confused as I've never seen this before. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Press F9 to recalculate the project.
Verify calculations are set to automatic: Tools/Options... pull the
Calculations tab and select automatic calcuations.

See if that helps, if not there is a whole crew here to help you.

Jim, I can't believe it was that easy - the calc tab had the manual
re-calculation radio button set but I haven't re-set it. And, to make it
more interesting, I am in Nashville and one of my project managers is in
Virginia working on a completely different version of MS Project - he's using
2007. And, his was also re-set to manual. How can this happen? The only
thing I can think of is that we are using MS Project in conjunction with
Clarity (CAs pm software) - we are using MS Project as the UI. Maybe Clarity
set this option - very strange.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help - I was pulling my hair out. BTW, who is
the team you are referring to?

The "team" is the entire online community that reads this newsgroup. If you
frequent "this place" you will find the usual posters. It's not like there
is a group of us sitting in cubicles somewhere.

This entire online community consists of volunteers who answer questions.
Although this forum is a Microsoft invention, no one here is a Microsoft
employee... we all have reqular jobs and do this for the purpose of assisting
others.

Thank you for the kind feedback. "We" are here when needed...
