I am trying to create a document with a cover page and several subsequent pages. Ideally, the cover page would have required areas for entering data about items in the report. Is there a way to take text from the required areas of the cover page and have the text automatically appear in the header / footer of the subsequent pages?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Danny:

Two ways:

REF fields or StyleRef fields. The Word 2008 help is completely useless on
the subject. Look them up in the Word 2003 help here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HP051893981033.aspx

And here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HP051861391033.aspx

You can bookmark your text items and use REF fields to replicate them
wherever you like.

Or you can use Styles on your text and use StyleRef fields to do the same
thing. The StyleRef method is much simpler and more reliable: users are not
likely to break styles the way they break bookmarks.

Cheers
