Linking to a clipart file

S

Shinano

I have a number of documents where I have to replace an existing logo with a
new one.

Instead of embedding the new logo in each of the files I would like to link
to the image file that contains the logo, which is stored on a network drive.
The logo changes frequently in connection with campaigns, and so changing the
image file alone would make for an easy change of the logo in a number of
templates.

Anyone out there that can tell me how to get around this one?

Thank you very much in advance.

Use the Insert > Picture > From File command. After choosing the
picture, click the down arrow on the Insert button and choose "Link to
File". That inserts an INCLUDEPICTURE field with a reference to the
picture file instead of inserting the picture file itself.

Whenever the content of the file on the network changes, the result of
the field will also change. You may need to update the field, either
by selecting it and pressing F9, or by switching temporarily to Print
Preview.
