Linking to another Power Point's Custom Shows

I'm developing training modules using powerpoint. In a particular
presentation I would like to link to and return from certain segments of
slides in another presentation ie. a custom show. Is this possible? My
reason being is in the case of needing to update a slide, I would have to
update every presentation that had that original slide. If I could link to a
custom show I would have to edit the slides only in that "mother"
presentation.

You can definitely link to another presentation file and if that file is
programmed to play an existing custom show, then you're in business.
However, the Hyperlink or Action Settings dialogs do not offer the
additional choice of linking to a custom show that is contained within the
linked file.

I think I would approach this a bit differently: I would create the link to
a show and have that show begin with a menu of choices, each choice being
governed by a custom show. So there might be six custom shows in the linked
presentation file, and the link from the original deck takes you to the menu
of those six choices.

You can't link to a custom show in a different presentation but you can link
to a specific slide.

Maybe this would work say you want to show slides 3 - 6

Link to slide 3 and on slide 6 disable on click transition and instead have
a button linked to "End Show"

You can link to a custom show in another presentation, but there are many
problems with it.

1) It starts on the correct slide, but then progresses linearly along
the presentation, not following the custom show design.
2) The custom show name cannot contain a variety of characters or spaces

Why not just save the custom show as a new presentation on your hard drive.
It will make your life easier.
