Linking to external applications from within Project

Is it possible to link to an email saved in Outlook, so that when you click
on the hyperlink within a project it opens up the saved email?

You can link to an emaiul application so clicking on the link in Project
will open up a preaddressed 'compose new message' screen by using the
MAILTO: url -- MAILTO:[email protected] -- if that's what you mean. I'm
not aware of any application that supports links that will jump to a
specific received email message stored in the user's mailbox. Why do you
want to do this - maybe there's another way to get to an equivalent of the
end result you're seeking?

One of my managers is wanting to have the saved email data as reference he
can access from within a specific project.

Thanks for the prompt response. I will let him know it's not really doable.
Can we copy and paste the email as a note within Project?

Hi,
Yes you can. Another option would be to save the email from within outlook
and create the hyperlink in Project to the saved file.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Sure, cutting and pasting the text is not a problem. Or he can export the
emails themselves as text files or even possibly Word docs in a convenient
folder outside of the mailbox and then create hyperlinks in the project to
open either the folder or the text file as he chooses.
