Linking to Memo Field

I used to be able to link to Sybase SQL Anywhere database
with Access 97 and view a table which links a a table of
memo fields. With Access 2000, I can view about 20
records before I get and ODBC error 3146 and all the data
shows up as #Name?. With Access 2003, it instantly
happens. Any ideas?
