linking to text file

Under "Get External Data/Link Tables", in the file types
list box, a ".txt" file is not an option for a type of
file to link to. All it has is ODBC Data Sources and XML
files. I know I've linked to text files in the past.
Any ideas?

I am able to link to .txt files. I'm not sure why you
can't see it, but I went to Get External Data -> Link
Tables and then chose Text files (*.txt) in the drop
down. I see several choices for types of files to link.

Try re-registering the dll files like this:
Start Run
regsvr32 msexcl35.dll
regsvr32 msxbse35.dll
regsvr32 mspdox35.dll
regsvr32 mstext35.dll

Use 40 instead of 35 for A2K and 2002.

That's MSEXCL35.dll not MSEXC1.dll.
