Linking to Visual Fox Pro tables hangs Microsoft Access 2003 SP2

When running an append query from MS Access to retrieve data from an ODBC
linked Visual Fox Pro table, MS Access sometimes hangs and the only way out
is to "end task" in task manager.

It does not seem to be a Visual Fox Pro table issue since it happens to all
of them, and it does not appear to be a Visual Fox Pro data issue because
sometimes it works and other times is does not with the same records.

Has anyone experienced this same issue? And found the root cause?
