I have an Access 2000 database (Created through Access 2002
but saved as in Access 2000 format). I use ODBC to connect
to an Oracle Rdb database. One of the tables in the db
contains a blob where Word documents are stored. I have
successfully used Appendchunk and GetChunk to store and
display the Word documents. When I take this database to a
client with Access 2000, these functions no longer work. I
get error '3259 Invalid field data type' when it hits the
blob. When I look at the table containing the Word
document in Access 2002 design view, the field type of the
blob is Ole object. When I look at this same table in
Access 2000, the field type is Binary. I think this is
what causes the 'invalid field data type' message but I
don't know why the two versions of Access display it
differently. How can I change the 'Binary' field type to
'Ole object'?
thanks
