Linking Visio 2003 to Excel

Is there a SIMPLE way to link shapes in Visio to Excel (such that I
just give the Visio shape the filename/path and sheet/cell reference)
for each data item that I want?

I don't want to have to use a table of data (vis-a-vis a
spreadsheet/database) and then an ODBC link.

It would be nice if I could add a field to a Visio object and have it
call cells in Excel by reference.

Try VISIO hyperlinks to call Excel cells.

I don't want to have to click through to Excel to see the data. I want
it displayed on the Visio document. I also want to have an easy way to
change which Excel file is referenced on a global basis.
