links and hyper-links

Hello everyone,

Hey I am trying to do a few things in Excel and need some help. There
are three things.

1. I am trying to link data from one sheet in a workbook to another
sheet in the same workbook. Where I can change data in a master sheet
and it changes in the linked sheets workbook. This is not the same as
a hyperlink (that I know of), more like I am trying to make a non
hyperlink link.
2. The flip side of this I want a hyperlink in place of the regular
link I am talking about in 1.
3. How can I link the data in both senses above to another workbook?

Hopefully I clarified a lot in here, but if you need more answerers I
can try to specify using more information.

Go to the target worksheet (where the linked cell is) and click in the
cell you want the linked data to appear in.

Press the = (equals) key (as if to start a formula)

Click the worksheet tab where the source data lives (the master sheet)

Click the cell containing the source data

Press Enter

Done

Thank you for your help. This works. I used what information you gave
me +4 years of Software Applications and working in a computer
techniques field. I am linking and computing everything I need right

Moving into two things. I am trying to link a set of cells from the
overall master database to the past 5 years. I have years in cell in
column A and data in column B. In the master database there is data
in cells are A3:B12, I have data in A13:A15, but there is no data in
B13:B15.

1. How do I link a stream of data in different cells? I am trying to
link the past 5 years to in A8:B12 in cells A3:B7. This is in the same
worksheet and I don't know how to link them. I have moved the equation
into the cells that I link data from and it works, but when I move it
out it says #VALUE!. How can I fix this?

2. I also don't know how to link one data from one workbook to another
workbook's sheet. This is only one sheet in particular from one
workbook to another.

Oh and I changed data in the master workbook and it didn't change in a
linked workbook. How can I fix this?

Can you provide some sample data as an example? It's often easier to
work with than long descriptions.

I will soon, but my company is right now deliberating on what they
would like done with the information. I'm right now on the fence and
cannot get a full days worth of work and word in. In time we will fix
this, but it will take a few weeks. I will not know my assignment
until after the next business meeting.
