Links from Excel create extra lines in Word table

S

Sabine M.

I've been trying to link data from an Excel spread sheet to a table in a Word
template by copying and pasting the text or numbers with the 'Match
destination formatting and link to Excel' option.

The linking works fine, but whenever I change the data in Excel or close and
re-open the Word document, extra lines seem have been created before and
after the link in the word table. Any idea why this is happening? Or how I
can create the links in a different way?

Thanks.

Hi Sabine,

You might get better results using Edit|Paste Special, with the 'Paste link'
and 'Unformatted Text' options, which will cause the link to apply the
destination formatting. Alternatively, you could construct the whole table
in Excel, with the desired destination formatting, and paste the link as an
Excel object.

Cheers
