Links in database to be converted?

I have to convert a database that contains many linked
tables.
Do I have to convert the back-end database first?
Do the links have to be resolvable?

This database is from someone elses machine and the links
don't map to my machine because I don't have the drive
letters, folders or ODBC connections. I don't want to have
to set up all that stuff up to convert the database unless
I have to. Do I?

I don't believe you have to, but you won't be able to test the front-end until
it is delivered.
