Links in email signature

I would expect that when an email or web address is entered into an email
signature, that it should become a hyperlink when a message is sent using
that signature. I'm using Outlook 2003 and my email address and URL only
display as text. Any thoughts on why?

Hi John

Signatures by default are in a text format. Just type the email id and URL in
WORD, copy the same and paste in in your signature. It works.
This is the method that I use

Signatures are in the default mail format. When you create a signature you
create a version for use in each of the 3 Outlook email formats. I can't
check here since I'm on Outlook 2007 but The problem might be that the
address might need to be entered as a url using the appropriate button.
