Computer: Dell Vostro 400
RAM: 4GB (displays 3GB available in Windows), PAE enabled
Hard drive: 80GB (74.4GB formatted), 43.4GB free space
OS: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3, all updates applied
Applications: Outlook 2007, Internet Explorer 8 (default browser)
Note: password for email address is deliberately not stored, to require its
entry when Outlook 2007 is opened prior to downloading or sending new mail
When clicking a link embedded in an email, IE8 opens with the link in its
address bar, but the page is blank. It stays that way, until Outlook 2007 is
closed. Then, the web page appears.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook 2007 does not resolve the problem.
Uninstalling IE8 (returning to IE7) does not resolve the problem.
Additional info: having Outlook 2007 open can result in a complete computer
freeze, particularly when surfing the Internet using IE8. This may be a
separate and unrelated problem; if so, please ignore its mention here, as I'd
like to fix just the email link problem, and if necessary I will reenter this
issue in a separate post.
