links in Word don't work

All links (table of content, linked objects, EndNote references) in my Word
documents have been transformed into long tags.
When I copy these tags e.g. into this online form, the link works and I see
the object that should be represented.

I am using Word 2003 and Windows XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I cannot work on my documents ...
