Links to office docs in IE: Opening in office-application, not in IE (esp. *.pot)

Hello!

I don't know if I'm completely right here, but maybe someone can at least
give me a hint where I would be, or even help me with my problem.

I'd like to open all linked documents on a webpage in office, not in
internet explorer. I know I can achieve this with
"BrowserFlags"=dword:00000008 in HKCR\Word.8 etc.

Opening word .dot templates works fine this way, but if I try to open a
power point .pot, I just see a short flicker on my screen and nothing more.
Afterwards I find a windowless power point process in task manager and
that's it.
Opening .ppt files is also ok.

Does anyone know anything about this? I'm using Office 2000 on Windows
2000.

Thanks in advance for all answers.

Daniel
