links to word from 3rd. party programs

I have goldmine, a contact software, that has a link to word. This allows me
to insert goldmine fileds into a word document when goldmine is running.

I use home XP and word 2003.

word does not automatically update. When I choose (in word) edit, link, I
see the link to goldmine fields.

If I change to another contact in goldmine, selecting edit, Automatic update
will not execute.

selecting update now does not update to the current contact information.

How do I get word to automatically update?
