List Box

Hi. For a particular Excel 2002 file that I have, when I create a list box
with Data / Validation / List / ... the little drop-down arrow button does
not appear next to the cell. Is the file corrupted? Or is there something I
can do to fix it?

Open the Data Validation dialog for the cell and ensure that
"In-cell dropdown" is checked.

I am having the same issue. The "In-cell dropdown" box is checked. Do you
have any other ideas how to get the drop-down arrow back? It is visable on
other sheets in the workbook.

Thanks

Me too. I have the exact same problem. The arrow was there on all of the
cells i had lists in using data validation, then suddenly, none of the cells
have the arrow anymore. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! PLEASE HELP!

thank you!

OH! I found a solution! I had other sheets in the same workbook (I'm using
Excel 2003, by the way) where the drop down arrow still showed up when a
data-validation list cell was selected. So I figured I would try inserting a
new sheet in the workbook, then copying and pasting the entire sheet I was
having the problem with into a new sheet. After doing this, the cells show
the in-cell drop-down arrow again when they are selected. SUCCESS! This was
really killing me because the checkbox in the data>validation menu for
"In-Cell Drop-Down" did nothing regardless of whether or not it was checked.
But copying and pasting the entire sheet into a new sheet seems to fix it.

I hope this helps other people that experience this frustrating glitch. I
spent a few hours trying to find a way to fix it, and I finally did.

thanks 4 this!

I had to cut the entire columns into a new worksheet as formulas referenced
them, but it worked great!!

cheers!
