List managers gone wild

Gang,
I have a few spreadsheets in which I use List Manager extensively.
Lately, I have had enormous problems with formatting, when
copying/pasting, and when adding new rows. It simply refuses to use
the correct format (number format, font, size, fill color, etc), either
with the "match destination formatting" or "keep source formatting"
option. It seems like it is using some sort of default, regardless.
The problem started out small but is getting worse. It applies when
copying data within the sheet or between sheets, and it also applies
when adding a new case to the "*" row.

The only major change of late is that I switched my home computer from
a G4 tower running OS 10.3.9, to a G5 iMac running 10.4.3. I copied my
Office apps and docs over using Firewire target disk mode. My computer
at work remains the same, running the same version of Office, but still
using 10.3.9 on it.

Any thoughts? This is getting really frustrating :-\

TIA,
Dennis

Thanks for your mail Dennis.

Two possibilities come to mind with the scenario you describe: your
List Manager's Column Settings or your List Manager's AutoFormat
settings are overwriting the formatting of the pasted data. If you've
set Formatting in the List's Column Settings for the column you paste
into, or you've set an AutoFormat for the List, when you paste into
that column, you will get the Column Settings or AutoFormat formatting
for the pasted cell, whether or not you choose "keep source formatting"
or "match destination formatting". You can try going to Column Settings
(via the List toolbar, or by double clicking the List Column's header
cell) and clearing out Formatting, or you can set Format->AutoFormat to
None for the List.

I hope this helps!

Thanks much, Derek! I'll look into these suggestions. I wasn't aware
of these formatting options for lists. I stumbled across the List
Manager by accident (I believe that Excel once put up a "It looks you
are creating a list. Would you like to use the List Manager?" message,
or something to that effect, and I've been experimenting with it ever
since :)

thanks :)
