List numbering

I am using Word 2007. I have created a style for a numbered list. When I try
to reset numbering to 1, the prompt says it will modify the style. When it
does so, it changes my margins. Perhaps I am incorrectly trying to restart
numbering or don't understand how this should work in this version of Word.

If anyone can help me, please let me know and I can provide more details.

Make sure automatically update is turned off for your style.

You may want to try a different restart method; see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/numbering/listrestartmethods.htm. The easiest way
to restart numbering in Word is to set up an outline list.
