List of Cell Formats

I recently used the Excel Add-in Name Manager to get rid of a lot of file
size by deleting dead names in a very large workbook. I know that there are
tons of multiple cell formats that are similar in the file now. Does anyone
know of an add-in or utility that will list all the cell formats in a
workbook so that you can reduce them?

Hi,

I wouldn't waste your time on this one. Excel only allows about 200 custom
formats and all the rest are built in, so this is not going to get you much
memory. Better spreadsheet design and formulas will often help far more.

First, try using Save As instead of Save. Doing so causes Excel to create a
brand new file for your workbook, and in the process, free up some space. If
that doesn't work, you should try individually copying your worksheets to a
brand new workbook, and then saving the new workbook. If doing that doesn't
work, then you can try copying just the worksheet data (not the actual
worksheets) to a different workbook. Obviously, this can become quite
time-intensive.

Another thing to try, provided you still have some macros in the workbook,
is a free utility called CodeCleaner, written by Excel MVP Rob Bovey. You can
find the program on this page:

Scroll down to Rob Bovey's section, and CodeCleaner is the second program
listed.
