list start number and templates

Hello,

In a document, I use the style "Heading 1", which has
outlined numbering turned on, and with the start number
set to e.g. "8".
The document is based on a certain template, with
the 'Automatically update document styles' checked. This
assures me that all styles are applied correctly.

However, because of this option, the start number is reset
to "1" every time te document is opened.
Is there a way to keep a) the 'update styles' option
activated and b) have a different start number in the
different documents ?

Using field numbering is not an option.

G'day "ward" <[email protected]>,

I always avoid auto update styles for this and many other reasons -
including the fact that any paras with manual formatting WONT
auto-update so you are guaranteeing inconsistency by persisting in its
use :)
