I need a control to look like a combo box (offers an accessible drop down
list) but act like a listbox (cannot add your own value)... I CANNOT allow
the user to type in their own value, they MUST choose from the list! But
want a drop down list because the list is WAY too long to display it all. I
like the single initial value in there and an arrow that, when clicked,
displayed the rest of the list.
So, I made a combo box thinking I could play with it, but I haven't been able
to get it to behave the way I need it to. The enable and locked properties
don't work... they don't allow my user to access the drop down list at all.
Is there a way to modify a combobox to initially be empty or display an
arbitrary (unchangeable) initial value, but have a list to choose from when
the down arrow is clicked? Or is there a way to make a listbox behave this
way instead? Where the user has to select a value from a drop down list, but
cannot enter a value of their own? I just need to know which properties to
play with.
Please help!
