Listing Matching Named Variables on Mac???

I switch from PC 2010 to Mac 2011. My project has many named variables. On the windows side, when I start typing the variable name (no matter where itappears in a formula), Excel presents a list of matching variables. This does not occur on the Mac side. (if the named variable is the first thing you type in the cell, then the list is presented but if the variable is buried in a formula, no list is presented)
