Hello everyone
I'm using Word 97 SR-2.
I know, I know - I'm years behind, but that tells you everything about
me<s>.
While trawling the web the last couple of days, everything I read said
you can't delete document ListTemplates. Of course I'd already done
the usual tricks and/or tried everything I read, but it didn't matter
what code I ran, or how many times I deleted section breaks, page
breaks (and any thing else I could think of) and copied all bar the
last paragraph to a new virgin file, the ListTemplates come with the
pasted text. Hmm...
So I thought I'd try the "SaveAS .rtf and re-open as Text Only" hack
to see what might happen. After a little experimentation to establish
the likely culprit lines, I went for it and whoa...it worked...the
embedded ListTemplates were gone.
I'm happy to fully describe all the steps I took (they're long
winded), but a brief outline is below my signature:
My questions are:
Have you used the hack (in Word 97) and never had a problem, including
through later Word versions?
or
Is there a short or long term negative preventing use of the hack?
Many thanks for any help,
Marguerite

In Word 97 -
Copy all bar the last para to a new, virgin file.
SaveAs rtf
Open as Text Only
Look for, select and delete everything (inclusive) from -
{\*\listtable to the last \ls??}}
The question marks denote a number 1 to whatever, followed by the two
parens.
With lots of \sl???, I found it quicker to Find the last \ls??? and
work backwards from the double parens to {\*\listtable which is near
the beginning of the file.
Save, close and re-open as rtf, SaveAs a normal .doc
