Little Red box

I have word 2000 Premium. It is a new application and I
am learning how to use it. This is my problem...when I
cut and copy text from a web page or e mail, I have been
getting a little red box appearing in the document rather
than the text I just cut and copied. (I guess what is so
disturbing is that this little red box also shows up in my
other text editors that are not Microsoft based.) When I
click the "What's this" feature it tells me it is picture
formatting. When I click ""Special Paste" the only two
options are for bitmaps. I have to close the application,
open it and then, before I paste, I click "Special Paste"
and I have a choice of RTF, Text, Html and something
else. A bit confusing. Anyhow, another problem with this
little red box is that it also shows up as a placeholder
and another time it was called Easy Photo launch. I
clicked it to see what it would do or why it was there,
and I got an error message saying: "Run-time error 1220
Word cannot find or run the application".
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Angie,

I'd say you have an add-in for Easy Photo which utilizes the Windows
Clipboard to create an icon on a custom toolbar item.

Go to Tools/Templates and Add-ins and see if you have any global
templates/add-ins in the list. If you find one for Easy Photo then
either search for the file name using Windows Search/Find utility, or
it will be located in the Word Startup folder or Office\Startup
folder.

The location for the Word Startup folder can be obtained in Word under
Tools/Options/File Locations. The Office\Startup folder can be found
in the Office installation path.

Once found move it out of the folder to prevent it from loading and
modifying the Clipboard contents when you start Word.

Hey Beth,
Thanks For the info. This thing has been driving me
crazy! I just noticed that I couldn't even cut and paste
from a text document without this little red box showing
up. Anyhow, I did what you told me and removed the the ez
dll that was in the startup folder and now it is working.

Hi Angie,

Glad to help out.

Also, forgot to mention this before, EZ Photo is not compatible with
current versions of Office so if you haven't already deleted the file
you may want to since you can't use it anyway.
