Live News Ticker Over Powerpoint Presentation

I'm creating a plasma screen information board for the office. I'm unsure
what package to use as I will have to use ones that are already available to
me. I have the standard 2003 packages in addition to Publisher & Visio.

I want to create a moving presentation using powerpoint but I want to link
this to a live ticker news feed - is Powerpoint the best package to use and
would anyone have a guide of how to overlay a news ticker?

X2O Media can do this: http://www.x2omedia.com/ It's actually a
PowerPoint-based interface for digital signage, but it does the scrolling
and live newsfeed-type stuff very well. (And I think the interface is pretty
great, actually. Good drag-and-drop stuff.)

This software looks superb - my problem is that I can only what I already
have installed plus any freeware or free add ins.

Do you know of any similar functions / trick I would be able to use to feed
in live data to a ticker on the screen.

Since you're stuck with free, I think Steve's suggestion for Shyam's Live
Web add-in will be the next best thing.
