Llink to an Excel spreadsheet in read-only mode?

Can you link to an Excel spreadsheet in read-only mode? The reason I need to
do this is because I am in a shared environment where Excel documents can be
opened by mulitple users with one person with read-write access and everyone
else with read-only access. I have linked my Access database to an Excel
spread sheet and would like to link to the Excel spreadsheet in read-only
mode. Is that possible?
