Loading an old upgrade CD to a new computer.

I just purchased a new Dell computer. It has Word
Perfect, etc. Old computer has Microsoft Office 97. I
would like to use old docs, power pt files, and spread
sheets without converting. I have my upgrade CD. It
won't load to new computer as there isn't the
required "files" on it.How do I bypass this?

I don't use all that's on Office 97, so I don't need fancy
upgrades.

I will be reformating old computer and donating it. So
this Office package will only be on one computer and still
belong to me.

You can't - it's an upgrade so you need to have a eligible software like
Office 95 already installed.

No one uses all that's on any version of Office. What you do miss from later
versions is old features (sometimes) made easier to use, new features that
you didn't realize you wanted, and fixes to older bugs. Of course it's not
all uniformly up hill, but it's foolish to dismiss upgrades out of hand as
"fancy".

SCUSE ME ........ BUT I RESENT BEING CALLED FOOLISH!!!!!

MOST of the fancy formating in WORD is useless.... GIVE ME
A TYPEWRITER where things REMAIN EXACTLY where I put it;
not where some programmer THINKS it should go.

Basically, I transfered all files over to WORD PERFECT &
QUATTRO PRO, and MICROSOFT OFFICE has LOST me as a
customer!
