Loading Microsoft Money

I have tried to load Microsoft Money on my Windows XP PC;
received error message, "Firewall and VirusScan software
is present. Disable both programs before installing
Money." How do I "disable" these programs without
uninstalling them? The Microsoft Money program would not
install.

Off topic for this newsgroup.

For the anti-virus software, you want to disable the programs background
scanning. If you using Norton, right click on the icon in taskbar and select
Disable Auto-Protect. For other anti-virus programs check the program's Help
for directions.

I have never encountered a need to disable your firewall. If you are just
using Windows XP incoming firewall, check Windows Help and Support for
directions. If you have an additional firewall installed, which you also
did not identify, just close the program. For Zone Alarm, right click on the
Zone Alarm icon in the taskbar and select Shutdown Zone Alarm.

Don, I hate your type that comment on off topic for this
newsgroup, this is office related, it is pompass moron
nerdy geeks like you that people invent spam programs. All
that man was doing is asking for help on a related topic.
Have the leaders of this website create a MS Money section
if you don't like his question, don't reply, why be rude?
you are a jackass!

And you are a f**kwit. It *IS* off-topic here. Money is *NOT* an Office
family product - it is an entirely separate entity (though Money Standard
used to be (maybe still is) distributed with the Works Suite).

This isn't a website - it's Usenet (learn the difference, jackass!) There
are no 'leaders' this is a peer-to-peer support group.

And, FYI, there are several Money groups - eight on the last count.

So check your facts before posting - makes you look less of a...what's that
term you're so fond of? Oh yes, jackass.

Without wishing to get embroiled in name calling;
If you have an ISP with a news server you may find it easier to access
newsgroups via a newsreader eg the Outlook Express newsreader
You can access various public newservers eg msnews.microsoft.com without
resort to your ISP news server

I don't want to get involved in a flame war here but I think a bit of
an explanation is in order. :)

The reason we try to keep 'on topic' in the newsgroups is due to the
amount of traffic a newsgroup receives. For those who try to support
the newsgroups, wading through posts unrelated to the newsgroup
subject can be time consuming. And since questions are answered
voluntarily what little newsgroup time we have is precious.

Additionally, the experts/gurus for a specific topic will hang out in
newsgroups geared to that topic and that's where the best advice will
be found.

To further clarify 'what the newsgroups are'. They are part of Usenet.
If you aren't familiar with Usenet, it is a distributed bulletin board
system. When you post to Usenet it uses Network News Transfer Protocol
(NNTP) to transfer posts between 1000s of news servers all over the
world.

The newsgroups can be accessed through a newsreader, such as Outlook
Express, and there are many web sites, such as Microsoft or Google,
that provide a web interface to the newsgroups. If you have Outlook
Express this link will start OE and add this newsgroup for you:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.office.misc (You might
find you like OE *much* better than the MS web interface for the
newsgroups. btw, to subscribe to other newsgroups use
Tools/Newsgroups)

No one owns the newsgroups. These are peer-to-peer support forums and
there aren't necessarily any 'rules' but we do try to follow the
newsgroup netiquette in an attempt to maintain an environment
conducive to helping each other rather than flaming each other. :)

Here's a link to a page on netiquette if interested:
http://www.ezine.com/

Also, there are a couple Money newsgroups available on the MS web
interface. They can be found under United States/Money.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

I apologise, Beth - I just found his tone to be inappropriate (yes, I know -
pot/kettle ;o)) but if someone's going to flame at least make it an
intelligent one! ;o)

Based on the fact that you are using a web interface to the news server
perhaps you should take the time to learn about the system and get some
netiquette BEFORE you post any further messages.
Goodday
