loading office on new PC

Can't get to any support, maybe the ? can be answered here.

I have purchased a new PC and have office 2000 with
seperate discs furnished when I purchased my DEll in 2002.
I want to load the office product on my new PC. (have the
product key code). Can I uninstall on the old and use the
discs for the install on the new? I have heard that you
cannot, wonder if this is true.

No, you cannot. The Office program is OEM which means that it is tied to
the computer on which it came.
