My Windows XP Pro "Outlook Contacts" (2003 version) (*.PST File) from home PC
are loaded on a Flash Drive. Can't figure out how & where to load in my new
Laptop with Vista and MS 2007 Office Small Business (w/ Outlook)?? I'm a
total rookie at this tech stuff with "no" experience. Please give "detailed"
steps. Appreciate your help. Semper Fi

You need to copy the PST from your flash drive to your laptop. I haven't used
Vista, but on older operating systems, you would save the file under your
profile (Documents & Settings), I'm sure someone using Vista will come along
and post the exact location.

When you save the file, you must remove the read only attribute. To do this,
right click on the file and scroll to properties. You can uncheck the read
only box there.
Then open Outlook. Click on File > Open and browse to your PST. That should
do it for you.

However, here is a website for Outlook that contains excellent information
on backing up and restoring your PST file and you may find it very helpful:

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

It contains information on how to locate the PST file and will give you step
by step instructions. Good luck!

If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to post back.

I believe if the file is placed in the Documents & Settings grouping, in
Vista, there may be Vista specific permissions issues, perhaps better to
locate it in My Documents allthough its not called that in Vista
