Loading Old software on new PC.

Is there a way to track down registration #s for old
software? I have the disc for MS Office 97 that came with
my old Dell. Now I have a new Sony Viao and I want to
load my Office 97 software, but I can't get thru the
registration process without the proper #s and I don't
know whereto find them, as they are not on the sleeve of
the disc. My new viao has MS word processor and this is
not working very well to create resumes, etc. Any ideas
or suggestions? I really can't afford to spend $200 on
new software right now. yyyyiiikes...thanks

Office 97 'came with my old Dell' then likely its an OEM copy, and as such
is only licensed to the sys it was supplied with.
If its a retail version, find someone with a O97 disk and key, try theirs.
