Loading Publisher 2003 on to Vista Home Premium

Mark Ward

I have recently bought a new computer with Vista Home Premium, but my
Publisher 2003 will not load as it states there is no Windows XP or 2000
running. Quite right, but do I really have to buy the 2007 version? As a UK
charity we have bought the Student 2007 office version - is there a student
version of Publisher 2007?

I have Office 2003 on Vista, but I installed it before I installed Vista. I have
all sorts of legacy applications, all work okay. Maybe that is the key. Install
all your old applications and then Vista.

My system came with Vista, I installed Office 2007, then I installed Pub
2003. It was an afterthought - but it works fine. Normally I would have put
2003 on first. Surprises me that it's okay with the order I did it in.

The only reason I can possibly think of for this is that you're
misreading the error - if it said there is no OFFICE 2000 or XP running,
then I'd suggest you're trying to install an upgrade version (which I
think does exist in the UK, although I'm not entirely sure) and you
don't have a previous version that will let it install.

JoAnn,

I am glad to hear that you could install a 2003 product after office 2007.
I also have an afterthought like you, except I want to install Outlook 2003
after I stalled office Home and Student 2007. I really don't want to
un-install Office 2007 to install the OL 2003, as I afraid it will cause me 1
of the 3 users. Do yu think I can give it a try just installing the 2003 OL
with the Office installed? What happen if it won't work? FYI, I have Vista
Business on my new laptop. What is the correct way to only install 2003 OL ?

Thanks

Since Office HSE 2007 doesn't include Outlook, you should be fine.

JoAnn,

I know very little about computer, and have never done any custom install
before.
Can you give me a brief instruction on installing the 2003 Outlook with the
HSE 2007 intact.

Thanks again.

I've never installed Outlook with an older version of Office. My
*assumption* would be to insert your CD and follow the instructions. If
Outlook is part of an older suite, you will need to do a custom
installation. Read everything carefully!
