Local and Remote the wrong way round??

Hi
I am having several problems with Frontpage 2003. Iused to have my website
stored on my home PC at C:\Documents and Settings\Anthony\My Documents\My
Webs\myweb6. After I modified a few of the pages, I noticed that somehow it
is now being stored on the server which is hosting the site. (Or at least I
think thats where it is) The very top of the screen (title bar) now reads
Microsoft Frontpage - http://kentsolarsolutions.co.uk. Kentsolarsolutions is
the name of the website. Now when I try to modify my site it happens
automatically. I have heard that this is not great because if the server
hosting my site goes down then I will lose my site! I need to get it back
onto my PC again. Also I would like to know how it got to the remote site.
If anyone has any ideas please help.

Tony

You are thinking about this wrong.

The "local" is the one you open first NO MATTER WHERE IT IS.

The "remote" is the one you publish to, NO MATTER WHERE IT IS.

Just open your local site first.

Open your web site (make sure the online version opens) and publish it
to your PC:

With all pages closed, click on Remote Web Site.
Click Remote Web Site Properties above the right column.
Select File System, and in the Remote Web Site location box, type:

C:\Documents and Settings\Anthony\My Documents\My Webs\myweb6
Click Publishing tab
Select "all pages..."

Note - you could select Changed Pages only if only a few pages have been
changed, but sometimes it is faster to use All pages, particularly if
there are a lot of files involved.

If you have subwebs, also tick the box "Include Subsites"

Click OK

Publish Local to Remote.

When you publish the Local web site is always the first site you opened
and is in the left column. The remote web site is the second web site
in the right column.

When publishing completes you will have a complete and up to date copy
on your PC.

Click the link "Open the remote site in FrontPage" (exact wording may
differ). This will open the copy in a new instance of FrontPage.

Go back to the online version (click on the first FrontPage button in
the task bar) and close the site -
File->Close Site
which leaves the PC version open.

After you close this site, when you re-open FP the PC version should
open.

As to why you "moved" to the online site- (guessing) you opened the
online site in FrontPage and closed it AFTER you closed the PC version.
You also have "Open last Web site automatically..." ticked in
Tools->Options-General tab.

Thanks for your help. I have done everything you said. I now do have the
local site on my PCin the left pane and the remote site in the right pane.
But, I think there must be other things going on as all the link bars have
gone from all pages. The hyperlinks are working, but where there used to be
link bars is a message telling me to rebuild them or start again.
Any ideas?
