Matteo

Dear all,
sometime I am facing with some PM that create his project outside the
headquarter, (not connected to the server, with don't have a vpn connecting
to our project server, nor is installed in our DMZ) and importing it into an
Enterprise project he/she see dates chaging because the enterpise calendar
that includes holidays.

The question is:
Is there a way to export the enterprise calendar and generate a local
calendar from this export, for all the client?
Is it available a tool to propagate this calendar to all project
professional 2007 installation?

Thank you all

Matteo

Here's what you can do to help your PM's who initiate a project while not
connected to Project Server 2007:

1. Launch Project Professional 2007 and connect to Project Server.

The system loads the enterprise version of the Standard calendar in the new
blank project.

2. Click File - Save - Save As File.
3. In the Save As File dialog, click the OK button.
4. In the Save As dialog, save the new blank project as an .mpp file with a
name like Company Calendar.

The preceding step saves an .mpp file containing a Standard calendar with
company holidays.

5. Close the .mpp file and then exit Project Professional 2007.
6. Relaunch Project Professional 2007, but do not connect to Project
Server. Instead, select the Computer option to work locally.
7. Open the Company Calendar .mpp file.
8. Click Tools - Organizer and then click the Calendars tab.
9. Copy the Standard calendar from the right side of the dialog (in the
Company Calendar.mpp file) to the left side of the dialog (to the Global.mpt
file).
10. When prompted to overwrite the existing Standard calendar, click the
Yes button.

In the preceding step, when you copy the Standard calendar to the Global.mpt
file, this makes it the Standard calendar for every new blank project
created from that point foward. This way, when a PM creates a new project
while not connected to Project Server, he/she will get a Standard calendar
in the project that contains your company holidays.

11. Click the Close button.

Send the Company Calendar.mpp file to each of your PM's and ask them to do
steps #6-11 above. Hope this helps.
